I believe that what make Hot Wheels collecting exciting are the memories that we will carry with us as collectors. Many stories will be told and it may be sad, sweet, frustrating or happy but when we reminisce about it, we will come to appreciate the hobby even more. And as Forest Gump once said, “Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get” and this is exactly what the excitement of Hot Wheels collecting is all about. The journey of collecting Hot Wheels is the excitement to it. You never know what you’re gonna get!

As I child I had a garage of die cast cars but I could not recall if any were Hot Wheels. It is quite possible that the Hot Wheels brand was not established in Malaysia back then. My favourite of the lot was a red Alfa Romeo, fully 100 % die cast metal and a Matchbox. I remember because I threw it at my brother and you do not want to read about the extensive damages that it cost him.  Needless to say, I ended up in hot soup as a result of that.

I missed last Friday’s meet up with the press and I wondering what I missed. Did any of the guys fumble and maybe drop their prized cars on the floor? Anyway, it was that time of the year where I have to pay respect to my ancestors and as such at 4 a.m. last Sat, I drove back to Butterworth to perform my duties and also to celebrate Earth Hour with my family.

When I got into office today, this was waiting for me.

I instantly noticed the plastic bag, and sense that what was inside it was something related to Hot Wheels. Maybe a new 09 model. The plastic bag is a very obvious pasar tani loose car bag.

This is what I have on my office table as a stress reliever. Tooned Enzo Ferrari, VW Type 181, and Matchbox  Ford Transit 2007.
